Vans Insurance

We have access to van insurance products that are designed to suit the individual needs of each customer, from sole traders to small enterprises or large companies.

Basic van policies will come with various benefits and limitations (such as contents cover, mileage limits and usage restrictions) dependent on the provider. If you intend on using your van in connection with work or business, you will need to disclose this to us.

We will research the market using the insurers that we have access to and obtain comparative quotations that provide the cover you require. We also have a van insurance scheme which we have found is competitively rated.

When it comes to shopping around for van insurance, you may well believe that the lowest price is the best value, but we believe that this is not always the case. You need to check the level of cover that is included.  Some policies may have higher excesses or exclude some of the policy sections that you may have with your existing policy.  By purchasing the wrong type of insurance this could cost you more in the long run.

We only obtain van insurance quotations through A rated insurance companies who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

At renewal, we will survey the market again and if we have a product that gives the same level of cover at a more competitive premium then we will let you know.  We will write to you, in good time, prior to the renewal date to advise you of the best offer we have.

Other Considerations

Protecting your no claims bonus

• Consider paying an extra premium to protect your no claims bonus.  This means that in the event of a fault claim your bonus is not reduced.  However, your premium may still increase slightly as you will be deemed as a worse risk if you have a fault claim.

Think about adding a voluntary excess to your van insurance

• You may wish to add a voluntary excess to your compulsory excess to lower your premium.  Remember you’ll get less back if you make a claim (after both voluntary and compulsory excesses have been deducted) so you need to be able to afford it.

If you’re using your van to transport dangerous, hazardous or particularly valuable cargo, then it might be worth considering a goods in transit policy. It can offer cover for items that would not generally be protected by a standard policy, and offer assistance if they are lost or damaged in transit.

• Courier insurance

If you’re using your van for delivery of other people’s goods, a courier insurance policy may offer you the protection you require. It can provide cover for high-value items and long distance/frequent travelling.
